Life Transition Therapy
Life Transitions
Life transitions can be incredibly painful. Adjusting to change, even positive or expected change, can be very stressful. The most obvious transition, becoming a parent, is especially life-altering. It might feel like everything you knew before is gone forever. You feel a tremendous loss (which often triggers subsequent feelings of guilt and shame).
At times, resentment rears its ugly head. You miss your life before and don’t recognize things as they are now. These life transitions might trigger feelings of grief, overwhelm, or symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Any life transition can feel this way, not only becoming a parent. Major life changes are losses. With every loss, there is grief and it’s expected for you to feel those feelings. But it is also possible to feel the loss while accepting the changes and growing to appreciate or even love your new version of life.
